Motorcyclist killed in early morning George Co. crash

GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist and sent a driver to the hospital early Friday morning.

MHP spokesman Chase Elkins said the crash happened around 5 a.m. near the intersection of Hwy. 26 and Hwy. 63 in George County.

Elkins said 42-year-old Jeffery Scott, of Lucedale, was riding his 2011 Harley Davidson eastbound on Hwy. 26 when a car crossed the center line and hit him head-on.

Scott was thrown off his motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Elkins said the crash remains under investigation, and more details will be released as they become available.
