GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A Gulfport businessman will spend a year in prison for tax evasion. The Department of Justice says Samuel Frazier failed to file tax returns for 20 years.

Frazier will also spend a year on probation and must pay $210,589 to the IRS.

According to the DOJ, Frazier owned Frazier Fire Systems LLC and EZ Haul Demolition and Construction LLC in Gulfport. He was investigated by IRS special agents after failing to file tax returns since 1997.

Officials said Frazier failed to file an individual tax return in 2009, despite making more than $618,000 that year. Frazier reportedly caused a tax loss of more than $210,000 for tax years 2007 through 2010.
