Mississippi State hosts Ole Miss Tuesday in hoops

Press Release from Mississippi State Athletics

Not only is Mississippi State looking to snap a season-long, four-game losing streak, it’s also looking to avenge a 27-point setback to Ole Miss in Oxford back in January.

This time around, the Bulldogs face their rival at Humphrey Coliseum.

Tip is set for 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2, with Tom Hart and LaPhonso Ellis handling the broadcast. The game can also be heard on the MSU radio network with veterans Jim Ellis and Richard Williams on the call.

Mississippi State stands at 14-12 on the season, 5-9 in league play after losing to No. 13 Florida on Saturday, 57-52. Quinndary Weatherspoon led MSU with 17 points.

Ole Miss enters Tuesday’s showdown 16-11, 7-7, after its 98-80 loss at Arkansas.

THE SERIES

MSU leads the all-time series, the longest in the SEC, 142-113.

COACHES

Ben Howland is in his second year at MSU and 21st overall. As a head coach in four different stops, he is 429-235 with a 28-29 mark with the Bulldogs.

Andy Kennedy is in his 11th year at Ole Miss and owns a 228-137 ledger. In 12 years overall, he’s 249-150.

QUOTABLE

“If you think about our last three games, we are right there with our opponents and hopefully we can get over that hump Tuesday.” — MSU coach Ben Howland on his team’s close losses.
