GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) -

A police chase involving a car reported stolen from Alabama ended with two arrests in Gautier early Friday morning.

Gautier Police Department spokesman Capt. Casey Baxter said the chase started after an officer attempted to stop a 2016 Nissan Altima for a traffic violation just after midnight.

Baxter said other units joined in the chase, and the two suspects took off on foot after the car came to a stop on Ladnier Rd.

The passenger in the vehicle, identified as Tammy Lynn Juanes, was arrested immediately. The alleged driver, Billy Ray Stewart, was arrested a short time later with the help of a police K9.

Investigators at the scene reportedly found drug paraphernalia in the car that belonged to Juanes. Police also said the car was reported stolen out of Mobile County, AL.

Stewart is charged with felony pursuit, possession of stolen property, and several traffic violations. He is being held at the Jackson County jail without bond.

Juanes is charged with possession of paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $1,000 for that charge. Baxter said Juanes also had a hit on the National Crime Information Center through Mobile County.
