POPLARVILLE, MS (WLOX) - Ilyssa Easton enjoyed loads of success on the field of competition last weekend. The PRCC freshman from East Central High School opened the Wildcat Invitational in a big way at the plate. The Lady Wildcats second baseman batted .714 (10 for 14) with 8 RBIs, two home runs and two doubles as PRCC posted 3 wins in four games.
PRCC head coach Leigh White said, "It's probably been a couple of years since we had a National Player of the Week. Ilyssa is a competitor. If she makes a mistake at the plate or in the field, she comes back to the dugout and gets it figured out, and she doesn't make the same mistake twice."
In Friday's 13-11 loss to No. 1 ranked LSU-Eunice, Easton hit safely in 3 of 4 trips to the plate with an RBI. In a 14-7 win over East Mississippi she drove in five runs, belted a double and a three-run homer.
PRCC opens play at the Sun Chief Classic at Orange Beach, Alabama beginning Friday.
