BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The 2017 Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic will kick off the eighth year of the PGA Tour Champions event at Fallen Oak. John Daly is beginning his second season on the Tour and it was announced on Thursday morning that the 1995 British Open champion and the 1991 PGA Championship winner will be competing in this year at Fallen Oak.
Daly turned 50 just after last year's MGRC.
Volunteer registration for the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic is now underway. The MGRC announced a new policy for 2017 and has waived the $60 volunteer package fee. All volunteers will receive a package that includes a golf shirt, hat, credential, tickets and parking pass. The volunteers will also be invited to the Volunteer Appreciation Party, and have their choice of complimentary round of golf at Grand Bear golf course, or a complimentary buffet voucher for Harrah's Gulf Coast.
Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of three shifts during the tournament. Volunteer committee assignments range from on-course marshals, standard bearers and TV spotters to driving range operations, shuttle drivers, Pro-Am operations and more. All committees are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so individuals are encouraged to register early.
Returning and new volunteers are required to complete the online registration form. You can visit the tournament website at www.2017MGRC.com.
The 2017 Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic will feature another solid field beginning March 30 through April 2 at Fallen Oak in Biloxi.
