SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - For the past two years, death investigations in South Mississippi have often been delayed for the lack of a forensic pathologist in this part of the state. When Dr. Paul McGarry died in January 2015, he was not replaced.
Since then, hundreds of bodies were taken to Jackson for autopsy slowing the process. This delay could slow police investigations and certainly create additional burden on the families of the deceased who had to wait.
Finally, a new pathologist stationed in Harrison County has been hired. It's about time. This should make it better for the authorities and families.
