Two dogs reported stolen from Lucedale animal shelter

LUCEDALE, MS (WLOX) - Authorities in Lucedale are searching for two dogs that were stolen from the same animal shelter about a moth apart. One of the dogs was stolen Jan. 10. The other was taken early Monday morning.

The shelter set up surveillance cameras after the first theft, and that's how they captured pictures of the suspects in the second incident. Video shows the alleged thieves approaching the facility.

Lucedale Police Chief Kellum Fairley said both dogs that were taken from the shelter were seized from the same home in early January after multiple nuisance complaints.

A representative from the shelter said they believe the suspects or an associate scouted the shelter during normal hours, because they went directly to the kennel the dog they wanted was in.

If you have any information that could lead investigators to the stolen dogs or the suspects, please contact the Lucedale Police Department at 601-947-3261 or Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
