SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - A Tornado Watch has been extended for South Mississippi until 5pm Tuesday. While Louisiana has seen several tornadoes touch down today, South Mississippi has really only seen heavy rain and some reports of hail. But that doesn't mean we should let our guard down.
Strong to severe storms will be moving across South Mississippi from the west until 4 or 5pm.
Everyone affected by these storms will experience heavy downpours. Many will also see frequent lightning. A few will even see the severe threats of damaging wind gusts, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.
"At this time, large hail and strong straight-line wind threats appear to be our main threats," said Williams. "But, the tornado risk is very low but it can't be ruled out either."
South Mississippi's severe threat is expected to wrap up around sunset and we should see quieter weather take over tonight into Wednesday.
