Bay High Tigers are one win away from claiming the Class 4A State Soccer Title

BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - Bay High reached the top of the mountain in the Class 4A soccer ranks in 2012, when the Tigers captured the state championship trophy.

They are win away from duplicating that feat.
The Tigers hook-up with Florence 2 p.m. Saturday in the title game at Madison Central High School.

You could say Bay High is presently on Cloud 9...after pulling off an exciting 2-1 win over crosstown rival and 3-time defending state champion St. Stanislaus on Tuesday to secure a spot in the title game.

Despite beating Florence 3 to 1 on November 5th, head coach Kelly Ross and his Tigers know, that was then, this is now... a new game.  The match up will determine the Class 4A State Championship.

Coach Kelly Ross said, "Obviously, we're extremely happy to have gotten the monkey off our back and won that South State game, but we're not done by any stretch."

Jonovan Cucurullo  knows the Tigers can't take Florence lightly.  "We know they've gotten better and we've gotten better too, "said Cucurullo.  " So, it's going to be a hard game and we've just going to try out hardest."

Bo Bowman said, "I'm ready for the game.  We know we can't come out like little babies.  We've got to come out strong, play hard, play physical.  Play our soccer game and we should come out with that win."

Bay High has the talent, momentum and ability to get the job done on Saturday.  They have come too far to let the State Trophy slip from their hands.
