HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Police in Bay St. Louis and Waveland are investigating reports of gunfire in two locations.

Bay St. Louis Police Chief Darren Freeman said a shooting was reported in the area of Washington St. and Old Spanish Trail around 3:45 p.m., but no suspects or victims have been located.

Waveland Police Chief David Allen said witnesses reported seeing someone in the area of Kiln Waveland Cutoff Rd. and Avenue B with what they believe was a gun. The witnesses reportedly heard gunshots and saw people running.

“Witnesses basically saw someone crossing the street with what they think was a weapon. They heard some shots and saw people running,” Allen said.

Officials said they are unsure if the reports are related.

“We are looking into the possibility they may be related. I find it coincidental," Allen told WLOX News Now.
