JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Jackson County Sheriff's deputies have arrested one man in connection to a string of auto burglaries in the Gulf Park Estates area, and Sheriff Mike Ezell said other arrests are expected.
More than 25 vehicles in the area were broken into Monday and Tuesday nights. Ezell said nearly all of them were unlocked.
Harrison Wenzel, of Ocean Springs, has been charged with two counts of commercial burglary of a vehicle in relation to the break ins. Ezell said the 19-year-old is also a suspect in several other burglaries.
Ezell said investigators are working to track down more suspects, and they are ramping up efforts to stop the break ins with increased patrols in the area.
Some of the items stolen, including cell phones and pistols, have been recovered, but Ezell said it is important to lock your vehicle at night and not leave valuables in plain sight.
If you have any information about the break ins or witness suspicious activity, please call the sheriff's department at 228-769-3065 or Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
