HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Smoke from a 1,500-acre prescribed burn can be seen for miles around in northern Harrison County.
The U.S. Forest Service is conducting the burn along Blackwell Farm Rd. and North Carr Bridge Rd. A prescribed burn scheduled for the area had to be canceled Sunday because of high winds.
Firefighters are working the burn on the ground and a helicopter is also assisting.
According to Jay Boykin, U.S. Forest Service District Fire Management Officer, smoke may be most visible from Hwy. 15 in the White Plains area up to Bethel Rd.
