BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Every January, millions of Americans make a resolution to get fit and lead a more healthy lifestyle. 2017 on the coast is no different. Because of that, the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Biloxi is offering a six-week fitness boot camp.

Classes meet three days a week, both in the morning and in the evening. The men and women go through a variety of exercises using mats, weights, and stretches. At the end of the class, they even run or walk two laps around the football track at the center.

Fitness instructor Dale Moore has some good advice for those wanting to join in. Set realistic goals and then just get moving.

Meanwhile, one of the class participants, Sarah Bridges, said it's the perfect class for any level of fitness, and she enjoys coming.

Even if you can't make it to the Kroc Center, several gyms and even local churches are offering New Year's fitness programs. It's a perfect way to create a better "you" in 2017.
