GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

The developer of a casino project proposed at the Gulfport Harbor is asking for more time to put plans together.

Robert Lubin and Gulfport Gaming Development asked the city to wait until March for approval to use lots at the harbor for the $140 million casino. Approval from the city is the next hurdle for the project after the Mississippi Gaming Commission approved the site in August 2016.

We first told you about plans for the property adjacent to the small craft harbor last year.

The Gulfport Planning Commission was set to discuss the 10 acres of land Thursday, but the issue is no longer on the agenda.

And just like that, five days of debate over whether the state flag should fly in Ocean Springs temporarily came to an end.
