Police say 2 Dollar General store robberies may be connected

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Authorities in Jackson County are working with officials around the coast to determine whether a recent string of dollar store robberies are connected.

The latest robbery happened Saturday night at the Dollar General in Ocean Springs on Washington Avenue and Old Ft. Bayou Road.Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell says the suspect fired shots, injuring an employee. The suspect is described as approximately 20 to 23 years old, with a tall, slender build, dressed all in black.

After the robbery and shooting, the suspect got away. D'Iberville Police were able to track him to the north parking lot of the store. Officials believe he got away in a car that was waiting for him there.

The employee who was shot was treated with non-life threatening injuries and released.

Investigators say the suspect may be the same one who held up a D'Iberville Dollar General in December. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
