Red Cross Looking For Blood Donors

Folks at a church in Ocean Springs helped save lives on Sunday.

Members and visitors of St. Alphonsus Church gave blood to the Red Cross. Their goal was to give 45 pints, and they did. But that hasn't been the case at other drives the Red Cross has held recently. Some blood drives only reached 30 percent of their goal. Officials say it's critical that more people give.

"Every two seconds, somebody needs it," Red Cross worker Liz Gaulke said. "Supplies are already low, and we haven't even hit Memorial Day and the summer where typically our donations go down. So, we're really trying to remind, please come out and make that time to give blood. It doesn't take that long."

The Red Cross will continue to hold blood drives throughout May. You can donate at these locations:
