(RNN) – 4moms is recalling up to 1,622 infant car seats after discovering some models may not be secure when in transit.

The manufacturer’s voluntary recall affects its self-installing car seats manufactured between July 1 and Oct. 31. There have been no reported injuries. 4moms estimates that 2 percent of products have this defect.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the product’s model number is 1032.

The recall is expected to begin in mid-January, and consumers can enter a serial number on 4moms’ website to determine if their car seat is at-risk. The manufacturer will replace any affected seats at no charge.

The car seats are reportedly still safe so long as consumers forgo using the automatic locking function.

“While you are waiting for your replacement carrier, you can use your current carrier once you’ve manually checked that the hooks on the carrier lock into the base,” a statement reads. “To confirm that the carrier has locked into the base, lift up on the carrier handle to ensure it’s secure before every ride.”

Consumers can reach out to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236 if they have any additional questions.
