BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Biloxi Brewing Company is putting the finishing touches on its new location; hoping to tap into a relatively untouched customer base in downtown Biloxi.
It's taken a couple of years to get up and running, but Mark Cowley and Carl Broome like what they see.
"It's all coming together. Everything seems to be hitting the way we want it to hit," said Broome.
The idea for the the company started in the fall of 2014. Since then, Cowley and Broome have been hard at work creating their product and getting in the public's hands.
Until now, Biloxi Brewing Company was brewed at Lazy Magnolia's brewery in the Kiln. The owners set a goal at 500 barrels a year to test their beer's marketability.
"We ended up brewing and selling almost 1,100 barrels," said Broome.
More than doubling their goal was the sign that the partners needed to take their beer brewing to the next level. To do that, the company moved into an 11,000 square foot building in the heart of Biloxi.
The downtown location will include a tasting room, facility tours, and of course, more beer.
"With this brew house and this set up, our target is to do about 2,400 barrels our first year," said Cowley.
And, according to Cowley, there's always room to expand. If the success of the product until now is any indication, expansion is a high possibility.
For Cowley, that success is pretty surreal.
"When you walk into a store and you see something sitting on a store shelf that you produced, I can't describe the feeling," said Cowley.
It's a feeling that the men hope will continue as long as their product keeps finding a friendly audience. The owners hope to have a grand opening for their new location by the end of the month.
