HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Traffic is flowing again on I-10 near the Mississippi-Louisiana state line. Mississippi Highway Patrol crews worked all morning to clear an accident involving an 18-wheeler and a car parked on the side of the interstate.
The collision happened around 2 a.m. in the westbound lanes near mile marker 3.
We're told when the accident happened, the parked car somehow ripped open the big rig that was carrying mail. That mail was scattered across the interstate. USPS workers told WLOX reporter Jonathan Brannan that the mail was heading to California. Now what's left will be brought to New Orleans to be dried out then delivered to its destination.
All lanes are now open to traffic.
