The man who has been the voice of Singing River Health System since 1981 is retiring. Richard Lucas, Director of Communications at Singing River Health System, will be retiring effective December 31.

Kevin Holland, Chief Executive Officer for the Health System, said Lucas "has faithfully helped lead us through many good times, as well as some challenging circumstances through the years."

"On a personal note," Holland continued, "I want to wish Richard all the best in his retirement journey. I don’t believe I have ever encountered anyone with as much passion and enthusiasm towards his profession, his employer, and his community as Richard has, and he will be sorely missed by me and everyone else who worked with him."

"It has been both an honor and a privilege to represent Singing River Health System all these years," said Lucas. "We do so much positive here at Singing River Health System, and it has always appealed to me that we impact so many people’s lives. The fellow employees I have had the pleasure of working with here over the years are simply the best."

Lucas said he's looking forward to spending more time with his family, and continuing his civic activities with United Way, the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, the American Red Cross, and his home church, First United Methodist of Pascagoula.
