HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Two suspects are in custody, and one person is recovering after a robbery and stabbing Thursday morning.

Officials say 22-year-old Marces Rush entered the Dollar General at 12191 Canal Rd sometime before 11:30 Thursday morning. Armed with a knife, Rush threatened the cashier and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

A witness to the crime then left the store and went outside to tell her husband what happened. After confronting Rush, the man was stabbed by the suspect several times. After assaulting the victim, Rush got into a car driven by 25-year-old Demarcus Leshore and the two men left the scene.

A witness followed the two men until Harrison County deputies and the Gulfport Police Department were able to stop them on O'Neal Road in Gulfport. In addition to recovering everything that was stolen from the store, police also found a large knife they believe was used for the assault.

It was initially reported that the victim was airlifted to another medical facility, but officials have since confirmed he remains in a Gulfport hospital in stable condition.

Rush was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility and charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault. He is being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond. Leshore was also booked into the facility, and has been charged with armed robbery and accessory after the fact to aggravated assault. Leshore is being held in lieu of a $125,000 bond.
