SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - As our state's elected leaders put together a plan for spending tax dollars next year, they are faced with the prospect of raising taxes or spending less. We agree with the current plan of spending less.
The state of Mississippi has been dealing with lagging revenue collections tied to a lagging economy. While we would all hope and expect the economy to pick up next year, we agree with the proposal to plan conservatively for tax collections and therefore conservatively on spending.
As the economy improves, so will tax collections freeing the state to spend on needed programs. That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to firstname.lastname@example.org.
