Darius Pittman committed to Western Kentucky a few months ago. He loved head coach Jeff Brohm and the Western Kentucky coaching staff.
When Purdue chose Jeff Brohm to become the Boilermakers new head coach and Brohm accepted, that opened the door for Pittman to rethink Western Kentucky.
He says he has ruled them out but they are no longer his primary choice.
Pittman said, "Of course you don't know what's going to happen when the new Western Kentucky head coach comes in. He may bring in a new staff. So, I decided to decommit."
Since he's not sure who that head coach might be at Western Kentucky he sat down with his parents and decided he would look at other options.
"You know I don't want to be stuck with a coaching staff I really don't know,"said Pittman."
In the last two years at tight end at St. Stanislaus, Pittman had 117 catches for 1,616 yards and 18 touchdowns.
I asked the 6-foot-3, 228 pound tight end if Brohm is still interested in his talents and would offer him a scholarship to go to Purdue, would he accept?
Pittman responded positively, "Most definitely!"
That offer hasn't come yet, but Pittman is hoping.
He told WLOX that he will make his official announcement at "The 88" All-American All-Star game on December 31 in Atlanta.
