HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

WLOX's Assignment Education Reporter Trang Pham-Bui is about to get a new assignment herself. At Monday night's meeting, the Harrison County School Board voted to hire the veteran reporter as the district's new Public Relations Specialist. She's expected to begin after the first of the year.

Born in Vietnam, Trang's family came to America as war refugees in 1975. Many years later she would win an Emmy for her series of news stories about returning to her homeland and reconnecting with the family she left behind.

We at WLOX have been proud to call Trang our co-worker and friend since 1989. In addition to her numerous professional awards, Trang Pham-Bui was recently inducted into the Mississippi AP Broadcasters Hall of Fame. We wish her the very best of luck in her new career field.
