BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Another headache for people in East Biloxi caused by the ongoing road project in that area. One of the crews working on Division St. hit and broke a water main at Lee St., leaving residents and businesses in the area without water for about 90 minutes.
Biloxi spokesman Vincent Creel told WLOX News Now the city is issuing a boil water notice as a precaution. The area impacted includes Lee St. north of Division St.
The break comes just a few days after heavy rainfall filled Division St. with several feet of standing water, requiring pumps to drain the unpaved roadway.
It's the latest in the ongoing disruptions for people who live and work in East Biloxi as contractor Oscar Renda works to complete a massive infrastructure rebuild.
Creel said Nichols Elementary School lost water, so Oscar Renda brought bottled water and gallon jugs of water for the school Friday.
