BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - Bay St. Louis Mayor Les Fillingame's choice of who he wants to lead the city's police department has still not been named. Fillingame told WLOX News Now he's asked the city council to add an item to the agenda to announce his selection Tuesday.
However, during the meeting Fillingame was never able to suggest his candidate. The council voted to research into another option they felt would better suit the city.
Their alternative suggests having the Hancock County Sheriff's Department continue operations of the police department. Sheriff Ricky Adam has been overseeing the Bay St. Louis Police Department since the city began its search for the new chief.
The council will meet on Dec. 15 to research how the city's police department has been operating since being taken over by the sheriff's department.
