BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Hundreds of people from all different backgrounds paid respects to fallen heroes at the Biloxi National Cemetery on Saturday.
During the annual wreath laying ceremony, Libby Harper and her family spread the holiday spirit to loved ones buried at the cemetery.
"Well, we're here because my husband recently passed away in July," said Harper. "He's buried here, and we have several friends who are buried here," said Harper.
For the past six years, Beryl Guidroz has done the same.
"We've been coming here for quite a while. I had a sister that was in the Army and she was an Army officer. She and I first looked into it when I first came here," said Guidroz.
Since Guidroz has been coming to the ceremony, she says it has grown in size.
"Every year it gets nicer and nicer. I think the first year or two we came they only had a few boxes of wreaths. The past couple of years, it's only gotten larger and larger," Guidroz noted.
Harper is happy to see so many people showing support.
"It means a lot to us to have people come out here and put the wreaths on the gravestones of our family members," said Harper. "We'd like to share that with everyone else."
