Head coach Chris Peterson steps down at Gautier High School

GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) - Chris Peterson turned in his resignation on Wednesday to the Pascagoula Gautier School District. The announcement was made on Friday.

Coach Peterson guided the Gators football program for five season.  He led Gautier to 25 wins and 31 losses and cracked the playoffs twice in 2013 and 2014.

The Gators closed out the 2016 season with 4 wins and 7 losses and almost qualified for the playoffs.  Pascagoula beat Gautier 37-31 to secure the fourth and final playoff berth in the Region 4-5A standings.

Every time I met with coach Peterson he was very professional and appeared to have the support of his players.

We wish coach Peterson success in whatever endeavor he pursues.

Gautier has an outstanding football field house with a big weight room, locker room and coaches offices.  The job should attract outstanding coaching candidates.
