HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A Long Beach man is facing up to 10 years in prison and $1,000 in fines for allegedly taking money for a construction job and failing to do any of the work.
Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood said a grand jury has indicted Everette Waits, 51, on one count of felony embezzlement. He was arrested Tuesday, and his bond was set at $20,000.
Hood said Waits took a $25,000 personal check for a construction job from a Bay St. Louis homeowner, but failed to even start the work.
Hood said the case is being investigated by his consumer protection division.
