BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) -

Interviews and testimonials were being videotaped at The Blind Tiger restaurant in Bay St. Louis on Monday. Owner Thomas Genin is working with CASA of Hancock County on a special campaign to raise money for the organization.

Business and community leaders are encouraging people to donate money for CASA's 12 Days of Giving fundraiser. This is the second year Genin has helped CASA by agreeing to match donations to the group for this holiday promotion.

"During that time last year we raised $13,000. Thomas matched $5,000 of that, so our total was $18,000. It blew Thomas and I away and really said something special about Hancock County and the people of the Gulf Coast," said Cynthia Chauvin with CASA of Hancock County.

This is a social media driven effort on the CASA of Hancock County Facebook page. CASA helps kids who have been abused or neglected and are know in the court or foster care system. That's a cause Genin wants to support.

"I hate to think about small kids in a bad situation. Cynthia and the CASA volunteers are very passionate about what they do," Genin said.

Genin will match all donations up to $5,000. CASA of Hancock County Director Cynthia Chauvin wants to thank Genin for his commitment to the organization and his desire to encourage others in the community to get involved.

"This is a campaign that grew out of one person's support of his local community and rallying other people to care about the kids of Hancock County and the future of Hancock County," said Chauvin.

The 12 Day of Giving Campaign runs December 1 through December 12. All the details can be found on the CASA Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CASAhancockcounty
