HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - One suspect was taken into custody with the help of a Harrison County Sheriff's Department K9 after leading deputies on a high-speed chase through two counties.
Around 1:15 p.m., a Harrison County Sheriff's deputy was westbound on I-10 when he noticed a car in front of him that didn't seem right. That deputy called in the car tag. Dispatchers immediately radioed back. Someone reportedly stole that vehicle from Vicksburg.
The driver of that car got off the interstate at Firetower Rd. and headed north. A chase ensued, with cars racing toward the far western corner of Harrison County at speeds estimated between 45 and 85 mph.
Three Harrison County patrol cars were involved.
As the pursuit headed toward Hancock County, officials asked Hancock County deputies to lay out stop sticks. The Hancock County patrol cars didn't have any, so the chase continued.
Officials tell us the driver eventually stopped and was taken into custody.
