PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) - Just in time for oyster dressing on Thanksgiving, oyster fishermen returned to the reefs of the western sound on Nov. 16.
Fishermen are taking advantage of the first of two special five day seasons; one before Thanksgiving and a second just before Christmas.
"We're blessed to be out here," said Jim Wright, who was among the first fishermen to unload at the docks in Pass Christian late this morning.
It's good news not only for fishermen, but also for the seafood dealers that line the Pass harbor. It was also a welcome sight for the owner of Brackish Seafood restaurant in Long Beach, who bought a sack of fresh oysters right off the dock.
Tonight on WLOX News Now, reporter Steve Phillips will have more on the return to the reefs.
