Mississippi State head coach Jay Schaefer had his Lady Bulldogs run through a practice session Tuesday evening in the coliseum.
He's responsible for building Mississippi State into one of the nation's elite teams, highlighted by All-SEC selection Victoria Vivians.
Two coast players, Jazzmun Holmes of Harrison Central and Ameshya Williams of West Harrison will both see action for MSU.
Coach Schaefer said, "Jazzmun has really improved from her freshman year and is doing a great job communicating with our team on the floor, as a point guard has to. Ameshya is going to be really special. She is long, athletic, and can run as a basketball player."
"It means a lot just knowing that I will have family members come down, coaches and people who use to look up to me, "said Holmes. "Being able to watch the team play, I think it's exciting."
Williams said, "I hope to see my whole family here. It means a whole lot to come home to lay, to show the family what great school I have come to."
Both Williams and Holmes have known each other since playing basketball at an early age and the MSU duo played on the same AAU basketball team.
Coach Schaefer decided to play one of his game on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to give local MSU fans a chance to watch his team perform in person. He also wants to give every player on his team an opportunity to play before their home fans. He also said he enjoys coming down to the Mississippi Coast as much as possible to do some fishing.
Tickets for the Tulane-Mississippi State game are very reasonable. Reserved seating $10, general admission is $5 and all high school students and younger get in free. You can't beat those prices.
