HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality issued a water contact advisory Tuesday afternoon for waters off Biloxi East Central Beach from St. Peter Street east to Dukate Street.
The advisory issued last Friday for Gulfport Harbor Beach from 20th Avenue east to Thornton Avenue remains in effect.
Theses parts of the beach are not closed. But, MDEQ warns if you swim in these sections of the Mississippi Sound, the current high bacteria levels mean you have a higher chance of getting sick.
MDEQ will lift these advisories when water samples show that bacteria levels are safe for human contact again.
