Purple and gold was on display Monday at Lanier's Gymnastics in Gulfport.
Sarah Edwards, a senior at Ocean Springs High School, flanked by her mom and dad...Scott and Renee Edwards, and coaches Cindy Wallace and Amanda Zeigler, signed an acceptance letter to become a member of the LSU nationally ranked gymnastics team.
Edwards said, "LSU just redid their facility. All the girls there, I've met with and they're just amazing and phenomenal. So are the coaches. I think it's going to be a great atmosphere and I'm excited to continue on to greater things with LSU."
Edwards says when she was younger she did dancing and gymnastics and finally decided that tumbling and vault was more fun. She's been participating in gymnastics for 15 years and has won numerous state and national awards.
Her talents caught the eye of a couple of college programs including LSU and Auburn. After her visit to LSU, Edwards decided that Baton Rouge would be her next destination.
Over the past two years, LSU came close to winning the NCAA Gymnastics championship and consistently has a Top-five program.
The Tigers also draw large crowds to home meets and gymnastics has become one of the most poplar sports on the LSU campus.
