SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - A federal court case bans states from collecting sales tax from companies with online sales if they don't have a physical presence in the state. This is just plain unfair. Why should online companies have this financial advantage over the businesses in Mississippi?
Businesses in our communities where local people work and contribute to the local economy should not be at a disadvantage because they have to collect sales taxes.
We support the effort of State Attorney General Jim Hood, who along with 10 other attorneys general want the U.S. Supreme court to overturn the case. Nobody likes to pay taxes, but our local companies have to collect and pay them, then so should internet companies.
Fair is fair. That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to email@example.com.
