KEMPER COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The cost to build Mississippi Power's Kemper County lignite plant is on the rise again. In recently filed reports, the company added $29 million to the plant's price tag.
The facility now costs more than $6.9 billion. That's more than $5 billion over the original estimated cost of the project. Additional costs include modifications and post-in-service costs.
Mississippi Power says it does not intend to seek recovery for any costs exceeding the $2.8 billion cost cap.
The plant is set to open at the end of November.
