BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Who's in? Who's out? Those are two postseason questions that will be answered for most teams tonight.
Another postseason question that will be answered...who gained home field advantage? Week 11 of the Friday Night Football Showdown provides plenty of excitement.
D'Iberville leads the Region 4-6A race with 4 wins and 1 loss with two regular season games remaining. George County, St. Martin and Biloxi are one game back having posted 3 wins and 2 losses.
Gulfport and Ocean Springs have posted 2 wins and 3 losses and the Admirals and Greyhounds clash in Ocean Springs tonight. A win is needed to keep their playoff hopes alive.
D'Iberville travels to Lyman facing the 2 and 3 Harrison Central Red Rebels, who also need a win to remain in the playoff hunt with the regular season coming to an end next Friday.
The Warriors under first-year head coach Eric Collins rely on a solid rushing attack. Ja'Quavis Foster, Michael "18 Wheeler" Booker and Kahlil McCray have combined for 2,325 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns.
George County and St. Martin hookup in Jackson County. The Rebels and Yellow jackets feature highly-explosive offensive teams. George County quarterback LaRaymond Spivery has 3,222 yards passing to ranked eighth in the nation. He has thrown for 21 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
St. Martin quarterback Wayne Overman has 2,612 passing yards, 31 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Yellow Jackets receiver Kalem Reddix ranks fourth in the nation with 76 receptions for 1,535 yards and 19 touchdowns. On Thursday Reddix committed to Colorado State. The George County-St. Martin winner gains an edge in securing home field advantage in the playoffs.
Coach Bobby Hall has Biloxi in the running for its first region title since 2011. The 3 and 2 Indians entertain Hancock. Last week Biloxi upset George County in Lucedale and the Hawks flew past Harrison Central 38-31.
Stone, Picayune, Pascagoula and Hattiesburg share the Region 4-5A lead with 4 wins and 1 loss. The Tomcats entertain 0 and 5 Long Beach in Perkinston. Pascagoula is on the road at Picayune with home field advantage in the playoffs on the line for both the Panthers and Maroon Tide. Hattiesburg travels to Pearl River Central.
St. Stanislaus captured the Region 8-4A title last week behind record-setting quarterback Myles Brennan. The Rockachaws will be on the road at Pass Christian tonight. The Pirates secured a playoff slot and will finish third or fourth in the region standings. The Class 4A state playoffs begin next Friday.
East Central locked-up second place and home field advantage in the Region 8-4A race. Tonight the Hornets entertain Vancleave. East Central running back Tony Brown has 2,612 rushing yards to rank fourth in the nation.
Moss Point is on the road at Bay High. A win over the Tigers from Bay St. Louis will secure the No. 3 seed in the
Region 8-4A final standings.
Poplarville, the Region 7-4A champs, close out the regular season with a home game with Columbia.
Seminary and St. Patrick clash in Biloxi. The Fighting Irish have yet to post a win this season. Seminary is trying to secure home field advantage in the playoffs.
The Region 4-1A title is on the line at War Memorial Stadium in Pascagoula. Resurrection battles Lumberton. Both the Eagles and Panthers are 4-0 in the region race. Resurrection is trying to win back-to-back region titles.
Christian Collegiate Academy has a home game in 8-man football tonight. The 4 and 4 Bulldogs entertain 7 and 3 Park Place Christian Academy in Gulfport.
