CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

We all know Halloween candy doesn't last for very long in most homes. Whether you are giving it away to the trick-or-treaters, sneaking it for yourself before Halloween... or stealing it from your children, it's bound to disappear.

Last week, we told you about a survey that showed more than 70 percent of parents say they get to share their children’s candy stash. The most honest 25 percent admit that “sharing” is done when their kids aren’t looking.

Time to throw another stat at you.

A National Confectioners Association survey found nearly 70 percent of people say chocolate is their favorite Halloween treat.

Even more Americans (85 percent) say they prefer Halloween candy in small packages. We're talking about those miniature and snack-size candies.

But before you eat TOO many of those "little" candies, let us ruin Halloween for you with one word... calories.

We put together a slideshow that shows just how much exercise it takes to burn off those candy calories.

We worked with a nutritionist from Novant Health Heart & Vascular Institute and the activity suggestions included yoga, walking and cycling. The estimations are based on an “average woman” which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention identifies as 5’5" and 165 pounds.

On a positive note, 90 percent of Americans surveyed plan to use the opportunity to talk to their kids about healthy eating guidelines and moderation.

Most plan to limit the number of pieces of candy their kids can eat per day.
