A second swimming warning issued for the Mississippi Sound

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality issued another water contact advisory Thursday afternoon for Gulfport Central Beach from Alfonso Drive east to Arkansas Avenue.

The water contact advisory issued Wednesday for Shearwater Beach in Ocean Springs from Weeks Bayou east to Ashley Place remains in effect.

MDEQ warns if you swim in these sections of the Mississippi Sound under water contact advisories, the current high bacteria levels mean you have a higher chance of getting sick.

MDEQ will these advisories when water samples show that bacteria levels are safe for human contact again.
