Resurrection is one of four teams remaining for the Class I State Volleyball Championship

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) -

Our Lady Academy has won four straight state championships and open the semifinals 6 p.m. Friday at Belhaven College, a date with St. Joe Madison.

Resurrection battles St. Andrews 4 p.m. Friday at Belhaven in the other semifinal clash.

Lady Eagles head coach Keith Tucker and his Lady Eagles are in position to win the state title.  A "W" over St. Andrews on Friday would most likely propel Resurrection to an all-coast final facing OLA 11:30 Saturday morning on the campus of Millsaps.

Tucker said, "We came out of the gate with a slow start, but we finished the regular season 21 and 7.  With this new format, four teams going to the state tournament, we're hoping to come in and play well and hope to move on."

Icy Walley has provided senior leadership for the 20 and 7 Lady Eagles.  She has 175 kills... a solid all-around player.

"Although we lost five seniors from last years team, my girls came through, "stated Walley.  "They believed that they could do it.  They came to practice and practiced hard and played hard in the games.  The outcome is what we have now."

Daja Cowan and LaShayla King have played key roles in  the Lady Eagles hunt for the state championship trophy.
