WLOX Player of the Week: Patrick Watts of Resurrection

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - Patrick Watts stands out on the football field.  He's 6-2, 233 pounds.  On Friday, the senior ripped off 222 yards and cracked the goal line six times in helping lead Resurrection past Bogue Chitto 56 to 14.

That gives Patrick 1,114 rushing yards and 21 total touchdowns this season for the 8 and 1 Eagles. Watts credits his teammates for his success.

"It's really just been my offensive line, "Watts said.  "Last week it was all them, the holes were gaping, wide-open.  I just worked during the off-season in getting stronger and faster.  I guess it has really paid off."

Resurrection is tied with Lumberton atop the Region 4-1A standings with a perfect 4 and 0 record.  Both the Eagles and Panthers will vie for the Region championship 7 p.m. Friday at War Memorial Stadium in Pascagoula.

Coach Scott Sisson said, "Last year we had to play them up there in Lumberton and that was for the region championship.  We were both undefeated going into that game.  Here it is a year later and they're coming to us this year for the region championship and I'm sure in their mind they want to repay us for what happened last year and we're going to try to give it our best shot."

The Lumberton-Resurrection Region 4-1A confrontation will be one of the featured games on the Friday Night Football Showdown.
