D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - A police pursuit led to a deputy-involved shooting Monday night in D'Iberville.

Crime scene tape lined the area of Lamey Bridge Road and Popp's Ferry Road as of 8:30 p.m. D'Iberville Police Chief Wayne Payne said Jackson County Sheriff's Department deputies were pursuing a stolen vehicle when the car got into an accident, t-boning a second vehicle.

Payne said the suspect then exited the stolen vehicle and attempted to run away from the scene. He was shot by a Jackson County deputy during a foot pursuit and taken to the hospital.

Payne could not say if the suspect ever fired any shots at deputies. It's also unclear exactly how many shots were fired at the suspect.

Investigators from the District Attorney's Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations are on their way to the scene.
