BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Dozen's gathered at one of the country's oldest cemetery on Saturday for a clean-up project.
The Old Biloxi Cemetery is being cleaned in preparation for a cemetery tour happening at the end of October.
The cemetery has been in service since the 1800s. Biloxi city leaders say it really shows how much the cemetery has played a key part in the city's history.
"They care enough about their city, this is where all the people of the city rest, and all of our ancestors are here and the history of the city is right here in this place," said city official Laurie Rosetti. "So it's very important for us to remember our history here....it makes me feel wonderful that they care enough to come out and help us preserve the area."
The cemetery tour will be held on Oct. 23 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
