Investigators in Jackson County believe they have found the person responsible for a bomb threat at East Central Middle School on Oct. 5.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said a 12-year-old student has been removed from the campus after being interviewed by deputies and school administrators.
The school was evacuated on the morning of Oct. 5 after a threatening note was found in a bathroom. Deputies searched the campus with the help of a bomb detection dog. No explosive devices of weapons were found.
Ezell said evidence was found that linked the boy to the bomb scare. He said the case is now being handled by the Jackson County Youth Court, and the county school board will decide what disciplinary action will be taken against the student.
