5 years later, D'Iberville triple-murder remains unsolved

D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - Federal investigators continue fighting for justice in a D'Iberville triple-stabbing. On Oct. 5, 2011, an 8-year-old girl returned home from school to discover the bodies of her aunt and parents.

Five years to the date of the murders, the FBI sent out a release asking for information about the deaths of Rong Chen, his wife, Mei Rong Li and her sister Mei Jin Li.

"Our agents are still actively working this case with our local and state law enforcement partners, and we will not stop until the killer in this case is brought to justice," said Donald Alway, special agent in charge of the FBI in Mississippi.

The triple murder left four children without parents. D'Iberville Police Capt. Marty Griffin says those children deserve to know who was responsible for the horrific crime.

"This family needs closure and we intend on solving it," Griffin said of the victims who owned a Chinese restaurant down the street from their home, which no longer exists.

A business is being built on the property as investigators continue looking for a reason why the trio may have been killed.

"We still can't come up with any reason, any motive, or any suspects," Griffin said.

The FBI is assisting with the investigation and interviews have been conducted in multiple states and even oversees in China. Even though those interviews haven't produced solid leads, Griffin says the case remains a top priority and he has no intention of closing it.

"We haven't given up and we don't intend to give up," Griffin said.

Anyone with information about the murders is asked to contact the D'Iberville Police Department at (228) 396-4252 or the FBI Gulfport office at (228) 864-6131.
