GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - It's officially the month of all things Halloween and a Gulfport attraction is cashing in on those who want the scare of a lifetime.
Tower of the Terror opened the doors of its 86,000 square foot haunted house this weekend. This is the attraction's second year to scare people on the Gulf Coast.
They opened last year in an old milk of magnesia plant of Hwy. 49.
Anyone who dares can walk through over a dozen creepy scenes that fill the large space, including everything from an underground cave, a funhouse, the Cajun Cabin, and much more.
Co-owner Alice Barattini says the entire attraction is very theatrical.
"The haunted house is really based on a really theatrical theme," she said. "We have a lot of beautiful props that really set the scene and provide a lot of detail in the room."
Ginny Mitchell, the other co-owner of the business, says it's scary enough that even she stills gets scared when she goes through it.
"I get scared still," said Mitchell. "It's startling. You don't know what's around the corner. It's that anxiety of what's going to be there."
Some of the props used to create the realistic effects are props that were actually used during the filming of various productions, including American Horror Story, Scream 2, and several other prominent horror shows and movies.
Terror on the Coast is open every Friday and Saturday through Halloween night. Admission is $17.
