BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The George County Rebels are known for an offense that can explode from any place on the field and they did Friday night, taking down Gulfport 36-14.
Quarterback LaRaymond Spivery led the Rebels assault against a very good Gulfport defense.
Spivery tossed two touchdown passes finding Tyrese Fryfogle twice including this 45 yard reception. Spivery added two rushing touchdowns. The Rebels win ended the Admirals Region 4-6A win streak at 8 games.
St. Martin got back on track and exploded for 43 points while the Yellow Jackets defense gave up only 15 points in a win over Hancock.
In Ocean Springs, the D'Iberville Warriors beat the home standing Greyhounds 45-22. Coach Eric Collins has a host of running back he can count on including Micah "18 Wheeler" Booker and Kahlil McCray.
Da'Vontay Keys of Ocean Springs had the Friday Night Football Showdown play of the night...this 99-yard kickoff return that tied the game at 7.
The Biloxi Indians pulled off what many may consider an upset in Lyman. Coach Bobby Hall's Indians defeated the Harrison Central Red Rebels 24-14. Biloxi quarterback Tucker Thomas was injured and had to be carted off the field. Late Friday night Thomas was released from the hospital after receiving a cat scan. He's OK and should be good to go next week.
The Pascagoula Panthers rallied and beat Stone 19-17. The Panthers running back duo of Reginald Hunter and Javarous Walker helped Pascagoula post a second straight Region 4-5A victory.
The Picayune Maroon Tide rolled to a 59-21 win at West Harrison. Gautier traveled to Carriere and posted an impressive 54-26 victory against Pearl River Central. Hattiesburg powered past Long Beach 63-7.
Moss Point led East Central 21-12 in the first half. Omni Wells scored two touchdowns, but apparently pulled his hamstring. The Hornets rallied in the second half and beat the Tigers 27-21. 5-foot-5, 190 pound sophomore running back Ryan Evans displayed his power on this run which led to an East Central touchdown. The Hornets opened the Region 8-4A ranks with a victory.
St. Stanislaus was on the road at Vancleave and took care of business behind quarterback Myles Brennan. The Rockchaws beat the Bulldogs 42-8.
Poplarville ripped the Greene County Wildcats 60 to 13.
Bay High traveled to the Pass and the home standing Pass Christian Pirates got the job done running past the Tigers 34 to 6. Running back V-J Swanier had another big game for the Pirates.
The Pass Christian defense also stood tall. Dillon Whavers came up with an interception in the first half.
West Marion defeated St. Patrick 44-6 and Franklin Academy double-up on Christian Collegiate Academy 42-21.
