WAYNE COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Two firefighters who were disciplined for dressing up as a clown in the Clara community last week will no longer be able to volunteer at the fire department, according to Fire Chief Rufus Landrum.

Last Tuesday dozens of calls poured into the Wayne County Sheriff's Department about a clown sighting. It was determined that a volunteer firefighter was the person in the clown suit, and another firefighter took the photos.

Landrum said disciplinary action was taken against the men, but would not disclose what those actions were.

Officials did confirm that both of the men involved in the incident were asked to leave the department.

This story previously stated that the two men involved in the incident were going to keep their positions per information provided by officials with Wayne County.
